At Guy's Dental Clinic in Cardiff we offer invisible / clear braces to straighten crooked teeth and to close gaps between teeth. The popular systems available are Clear Step and Invisalign. Clear Step and Invisalign both use the latest computerised technology and three dimensional modelling to generate a series of clear, see-through clear positioners or braces. The clear positioners are customised and specially fabricated for you to fit your teeth, and over time, they move your teeth into a position that gives you a natural-looking, straight smile. Normally, clear positioners alone are sufficient to straighten teeth, but sometimes other types of invisible braces are required to either speed up the treatment or fine tune the results. These invisible braces are only available in the Clear Step system.Invisible / Clear Braces Prices at our clinic in CardiffInvisible / Clear Braces | | | Single Arch (Simple - Medium Cases) | £2500 | | Upper and lower arch (Difficult Cases) | £5000 |
What is Clearstep ® / Invisalign ®?Clear Step / Invisalign are systems that can straighten the teeth by using a series of clear positioners / braces. They use the latest computerised technology and three dimensional modelling to generate a series of clear, see-through positioners, which are wafer thin and made of a transparent medical grade plastic. They are designed so that you wear each positioner for approximately two weeks. Little by little they gently move your teeth from their present to your desired position, as you work through the steps.
They are very comfortable and don’t impact on your speech, but importantly, are removable so you can take them out for an important business meeting.
How does Clearstep ® / Invisalign ® work? - You wear your clear positioners for 22 hours a day
- You remove your clear positioners to eat and brush your teeth
- Your teeth move slowly over time
- You change your clear positioners approximately every two weeks
- You have regular progress checks with your dentist

Although there may be slight discomfort when you start wearing them, in general, most users find them very comfortable. Convenience – You can remove the positioners when you eat, therefore, avoiding the problem of food getting trapped between wires and elastic bands. Clear Step /Invisalign also makes brushing and flossing easier when compared with traditional braces and thereby preventing development of decay, bad breath and gum disease. Invisible – The positioners are virtually invisible to anyone unless they get very close to you.
This gap has been closed using only Clearstep Clear Braces back to Clearstep top Treatment proceduresInitial consultation will involve discussing your concerns, answering your questions about the treatment and plan the treatment to achieve your goals. Invisible braces are only one of the ways to treat crooked teeth or closing gaps between teeth. The options are as following: Invisible braces such as Clearstep ® / Invisalign ® Conventional metal braces Porcelain Veneers Composite reshaping of the teeth
Advantages and disadvantages of each option will be explained to you during the consultation, and so that we can help you to choose the most suitable option for you. At the next appointment, your dentist will take an impression (mould) of your teeth using a special 'dental putty' and take several photographs of your teeth and smile from different angles. X-rays of your teeth will also be taken. A 3D digital model of your teeth is then created at the Clear Step / Invisalign laboratory using a imagine scanner. The model is used as a basis to generate a simulation of your teeth movement from their current position to the final desired position. This simulation is then used to design your clear positioners, which are custom made and will be changed every two weeks as your teeth move little by little. The clear positioners must be worn for a minimum 20 hours a day; the success of the treatment is highly dependent on your compliance as a patient and requires dedication. You will have regular check-ups with your dentist to ensure that your treatment is going as initially planned. Once the treatment is completed, a retainer will be provided to prevent relapse of the treatment. Aftercare At the end of the treatment, a retainer will be provided at no extra cost to prevent relapse of the treatment. A yearly check-up appointment is also recommended to ensure a long-lasting result. back to Clearstep top |
